Following in the footsteps of the highly respected model 1177, the Audio Authority
1177A brings an all-metal cabinet for improved appearance. This is more than an 1177 in a metal box
- the all-new design also offers new circuit board architecture for superior performance.
This high-performance Switcher can expand the digital audio capacity
of any audio system. It automatically selects the active audio input and it can convert optical and
coaxial signals automatically and transparently so you can connect any combination of optical TOSLink and
coaxial digital audio sources.
The switcher outputs both optical and coaxial signals simultaneously,
converting seamlessly between the two formats. For example, you can have a satellite receiver connected
to input one via TOSLink optical cable and a DVD player connected to input two via coaxial cable. No matter
which input is active, the switcher will always output both optical and coaxial formats from that source.
Supports all Dolby Digital, DTS, and PCM formats.

The totally redesigned 1177A retains all the features of the original 1177, but adds an attractive,
all-metal cabinet, and a new circuit board layout. This 4x1 AutoSelect switch is a perfect solution
when digital audio sources outnumber your system's digital audio inputs. The 1177A features both
digital coaxial and digital optical inputs and outputs, and automatically outputs the selected audio
source in both formats simultaneously.

The Audio Authority 1177A
The front panel has multi-color LEDs to indicate "auto" mode and input selection status, as well as a push-button
switch for manual source selection.
This picture shows the back panel. If you zoom in, you can see four optical TOSLink digital audio
inputs at the upper right, with a corresponding coaxial digital input below each optical input. The
output connectors are on the left side. The power input connector is located between the input and
the output connectors.
Shown here is the product box and the included contents. Starting at the upper right, moving in a
clockwise direction, you can see the box, an installation instruction sheet, some adhesive labels, a universal
power supply, and the 1177A unit itself.
Here is a closer look at the included universal power supply. As you can see, this will work with
just about any power system. The plug itself is intended for the USA, so if you are in a different
country, you will need a passive adapter.
