These Pro-Series stereo interconnect cables are made with Canare's innovative Low-Microphonic cable, which is well known among professional sound engineers for its ability to dampen microphonics and handling noise, even when used in the high SPL environments encountered during live performances.
Cable microphonic properties are important in audio systems because sound from the speakers can actually feed back into the sound system through the interconnecting cables. This feedback can produce undesirable audible effects ranging from subtle muddiness at moderate volumes all the way to feedback howl at extreme sound pressure levels. If you enjoy listening at live concert levels, you may very well find that these Low-Microphonic interconnects will allow you to discover detail and nuance that you could not hear before.
Canare Low-Microphonic cable incorporates proprietary double carbon/braided copper shield construction that virtually eliminates microphonic noise. The center conductor is made of relatively large 18 AWG stranded Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC). The design ensures low capacitance and low series resistance, preserving flat frequency response to 50 KHz. It is also a very flexible, supple cable, making it a joy to route and install while also ensuring long flex life.
We meticulously hand-terminate our low-microphonic cables with Canare's excellent F-Series connectors, using the best silver-bearing solder and our own time-proven soldering technique.
We chose Canare F-09 Narrow Profile RCA connectors as our "standard" terminations for this cable assembly because the hooded design adds an extra measure of EM shielding. The optional F-10 Deluxe RCA connectors lack the hooded design, but feature a PTFE dielectric material which has some advantages of its own. Both RCA connector designs incorporate gold plated contact surfaces to ensure consistent high performance and long life.
You may also choose F-11 Mini-TS Phone, or F-15 1/4" TS Phone plugs. All Canare F-series connectors feature robust nickel-plated solid-brass construction and a spring-type strain-reliefs.
Those working with vintage equipment (or any equipment that has close connector spacing) may want to consider the Switchcraft 3502AA Slimline RCA Connector option. They are not as robust as the Canare offerings, but with an OD of just 0.413", they are an excellent alternative for hook-ups where the Canare connectors just won't fit. Just be aware that these connectors do not have integrated strain-reliefs, so gentler handling is required.
When our skilled technicians join this uniquely silent cable to Canare's premium connectors, the result is an unusually quiet, clear, interconnect with a delightfully open and natural sound. Inspired design and the kind of expertise that comes only with time, combine to create interconnects capable of splendidly neutral, unadulterated sound transmission, taking nothing from the intended content, and leaving nothing behind. In the absence of environmental noise and coloration, previously undetected nuances are revealed. There are those who will not be able to perceive the difference, but those who can will be very pleased indeed.
