Audio Authority's SonaFlex Series SF-16 is a 16-Channel zone amplifier with sophisticated digital control capabilities. The SF-16 joins the elite range of Audio Authority products that are designed and built in the USA.
Built from the ground up, the SF-16 is the perfect companion to Audio Authority's own AXD and HLX audio matrix switchers, as well as a wide range of stand-alone applications. For example, use with an ADX-0808 Multi-Zone Audio Switcher and up to eight audio sources to create a sophisticated whole-house audio system. Combine multiple SF-16 amplifiers for use in restaurants an clubs, complete with overhead paging and live band integration. Use built-in room-combining features to handle partitioned conference halls.
When the music matters, the custom-designed linear hybrid power features toroidal power transformers, giving the SF-16 transient handling capabilities that switching power supplies simply cannot match. This amplifier has the power and agility that is crucial to preserving musicality and warmth that one would expect from a fine analog amplifier while simultaneously brining the advantages of superior responsiveness, headroom, and dynamic range. It is, in effect, a re-imagining of what an audiophile-quality amplifier should be.

Multi-channel amps are a dime a dozen, but today's digital amps lack the musicality and power to do justice to
any music lover's collection. Ask yourself, "Why shouldn't every room be a listening room?"
When Audio Authority set out to develop the SonaFlex Series, we asked ourselves, "Why shouldn't multi-room
audio be treated with the same respect as the most venerable audiophile products of the classic listening
era?" The result is a class D digital multi-channel amplifier that has the warmth and musicality of an analog
amp, with the responsiveness and headroom to manage the dynamics of your favorite tunes.
How We Did It
At the core of an Audio Authority SonaFlex Series amplifier is a linear power supply based on a uniquely
designed rectifier circuit with toroidal transformers. We designed custom transformers to easily handle the
power demands from transient peaks to the output channels. Other class D amps use switching power supplies
which are efficient, but can't manage large transient peaks; our SonaFlex hybrid linear supply is also very
efficient and has the agility to respond to musical dynamics with additional power to provide the headroom
that defines a truly musical amplifier.
More Magic in the Details
In addition to the power supply's dynamic capabilities, we selected chipsets with high sampling rates,
resulting in much smoother, more natural, sound reproduction. All the components used in SonaFlex were
carefully chosen to keep harmonic distortion low and the signal to noise ratio high, following through on
Audio Authority's commitment to the music. Yet, our commitment to the integrator can be seen in features like
remote source wall plates, expandability, and quick install connectors, putting SonaFlex in a different
category than other multi-channel amps.
